* Drag and Drop is very useful, but not all application programs support it.
* Stickies is useful, but some people might feel that keeping it running causes crowdedness.
* Many people might think, “I want to use clipping file as a memopad because Finder shows contents of the clipping file”.
Clipping files have some good points.
1. Finder shows the contents of clipping files everytime.
2. You can Drag and Drop it to other applications.
3. When its contents are shown on Finder, you can copy them into Clipboard by selecting 'Copy' from 'Edit' menu.
4. Unlike Clipboard, it remains as a file so far as you keep from putting it into Trash.
-- What ClipS do? --
* ClipS saves the text/sound/picture in Clipboard as a clipping file.
-- Installation --
First of all, ‘Control Strip’ Control Panel should be installed. Since I don't know which Macintosh and system is required to run ‘Control Strip’ properly, ask someone knows how to do it if it is not installed.
ClipS also runs on a shareware program called ‘Desktop Strip’ ( by Men and Mice ) which is compatible with ‘Control Panel’. You should install either.
* When ‘Control Strip’ is installed,
Put ‘ClipS’ into ‘Control Strip Modules’ Folder in ‘System Folder’ and then restart your Macintosh. That's all.
* When ‘Desktop Strip’ is installed,
Put ‘ClipS’ into ‘Control Strip Modules’ Folder or ‘Desktop Strip Modules’ Folder in ‘System Folder’ and then restart your Macintosh. That's all.
‘ClipS’ sounds the ‘Clip Sound’ alarm when creates a clipping file. I prepare a sample sound file so that you can do with ease. Put it into ‘System’ suite case in ‘System Folder’.
You can use your original sound. Record sound with ‘Sound‘ Control Panel or other applications and then register it to ‘Clip sound’ as an alarm sound.
-- How to use? --
All you have to do is ‘Click the clipping file icon on the Control Strip/Desktop Strip on condition that Clipboard keeps text/sound/picture contents’.
Then a clipping file will be created on Desktop.
Clicking with Command-Key() down, Popup-menu will be poped up. You can change settings. Settings that you can change are
1-a. Create clipping files into ‘Clipping Files’ Folder in ‘Apple Menu Items’ Folder in ‘System Folder’. Of course ‘Clipping Files’ appears in ‘Apple Menu’
1-b. Create clipping files onto Desktop.
2-a. Use ‘text clipping/sound clipping/picture clipping‘ as the name of clipping files.
2-b. Use first several letters of text contents of clipboard as the name of clipping files.
‘Clipping Files’ folder will be created automatically.
*NOTE*
1. 'ClipS' require System7 or later.
2. If the clipboard has no text/sound/picture data or some error will be occurred, ‘ClipS’ sounds alarm.
3. ‘Clipping Extension’ and ‘Macintosh Drag and Drop’ are not required. But when you want to drag&drop or show contents of the clipping file, you should install them.
-- ‘ClipS’ is a freeware program --
You can use/copy/distribute ‘ClipS’ for personal use without permission of the author.
Even if you receive any damages or loss as a result of using ‘ClipS’, Takenori Kabeya will accept no responsibility. Please use ‘ClipS’ at your own risk.
